Message from Mrs Barrett - Summer B
Hello again Class 6,
As you know, we are still closed to most pupils because of the virus, so I have provided another learning menu with a variety of activities on that hopefully you will find fun and will help with your learning. I want you to have fun and I would like to see some lovely 3D work, if you can manage it. Have a go at eg. lego models, junk models, papier mache or even clay – whatever you can get your hands on. I would love to see photos of your work please. Don’t forget you can contact me at:
New resources: It would be fantastic if you could have a look at BBCBitesize work to help you consolidate your understanding of the maths, English and any topic work that you fancy. Have a look.
Also, a really great resource is Oak National Academy – it has 5 lessons a day available including PE.
Below are some of activities that you may have already had a go at:
Don’t forget that the Oxford Tree website is great for both reading and listening to stories. Maybe you could put one on as you're going to sleep at night? Any books you read, you could write about for example: a book review, a character description, a setting description, a picture of your favourite part of the story…
Pobble 365 has a picture a day with some activities to complete underneath. These include writing and grammar work so would be very handy to keep your writing skills nicely polished.
White Rose Maths, which we use in class – this is still a great website to use and the school is signing up to it again. (It also has videos to help you.)
I can’t wait to see what you produce and thank you to those that have been emailing me already! Don’t forget to contact me and class 6 on our Blog on Purple Mash (look at the top of the home page under sharing and then shared blogs.)
Talk for Writing Unit of Work
At school, we begin learning to write in Reception/EYFS and use a teaching method called 'Talk for writing' until a child's final year in year 6. It is such a crucial part of learning how to write for all year groups.
I have attached three new story units below that you may like to use to support your childs oral and written retelling of stories
The Year 3 Units are called:
A Tale of Stone Trolls
Journey to the Jungle
The Truth about Trolls
It would be lovely if you could listen to your child read these stories or even read these to your child and ask them the questions along the way. I am sure Mrs Barrett would love to see some video clips or photographs of the children in class 6 completing some of these wonderful stories and activities.
A huge thank you for all that you are doing to support your child's home learning
Year 3 Mathematics
Here is a parent friendly guide for the Mathematics skills which are taught in Year 3. We are hoping you will find this useful to support any additional Maths work you are doing with your child during the school closure.
