A Message from Miss Foss for Summer B
Hi Class 4!
Whilst our school continues to be closed, I have provided lots of new fun learning activities for you. I previously sent home a timetable - this is flexible, whatever works for you and your family. However, we do expect 2 hours of work a day plus some exercise (we need to stay fit and healthy!)
The learning map below shows all the activities that would be good to do, especially for English, Reading and Maths.
The Oxford Tree website is a lovely website for reading and listening to stories. Maybe you could put one on as you're going to sleep at night?
We want you to enjoy learning from home and keep busy! You can always contact me on the class blog if you need to - I will approve the posts before they are visible to everyone else.
Our topic is Brazil, I have given you some Art and DT ideas to get your creative minds working.
Make the most of the nice weather by trying to complete some of the National Trusts 50 things to do before your 11 and 3/4. Don't forget the keep helping your grown ups and learning lots of new skills around the house.
Happy "Home Learning": stay busy, stay safe, stay healthy, eat well, get some exercise and keep smiling!!
I can't wait to see you all soon.
Talk for Writing Unit of Work
At school, we begin learning to write in Reception/EYFS and use a teaching method called 'Talk for writing' until a child's final year in year 6.
I have attached three new story units below that you may like to use to support your childs oral and written retelling of stories
The Year 2 units are called:
The Magical Teaching Box
Rainbows, Rainbows everywhere!
The Elves and the Shoe Maker
It would be lovely if you could read these stories to your child and ask them the questions along the way. I am sure Miss Foss would love to see some video clips or photographs of the children in class 4 completing some of these wonderful stories and activities.
A huge thank you for all that you are doing to support your child's home learning
Year 2 Mathematics
Here is a parent friendly guide for the Mathematics skills which are taught in Year 2. We are hoping you will find this useful to support any additional Maths work you are doing with your child during the school closure.
