Assessment

Assessment

Assessment is used across the school in all classes for the purpose of analysing pupils attainment and progress.

Teachers use a variety of assessment methods from diagnostic to establish a baseline, to ongoing daily

formative and at the end of a unit of work summative. Assessment is managed well across the school with a variety of ways in which data in relation to progress and attainment is gathered. The purpose of such collation is to identify strengths in pupils understanding, knowledge and skills and to identify key next steps in learning.

In addition the analysis of data across classes, years groups, key stages and the whole school allows us to identify areas for school improvement, rooting all developments and initiatives in the needs of our pupils.

Pupils are assessed at the beginning of the year in order for all classes to establish an accurate baseline. There is then a mid-year assessment in order to track pupil progress and next steps for teaching and learning. Finally children take part in an end of year assessment in order to establish overall attainment in line with year groups expectations.

Pupils in EYFS, Y1, Y4 and Y6 must complete a number of statutory assessments at different points in the year. Please access the areas below in order to find out more information regarding the assessment in our teams within school.
